Public Housing in Guadaira
Seville, Spain
This project for public housing in Guadaira includes 143 units distributed in 5 blocks of equal proportions in plan. The façade of these buildings seeks sustainable solutions to improve the energy efficiency of the dwellings. A light exterior structure provides exterior terraces for every unit. These terraces alternate with dense vegetation that operates as a filter for solar incidence on the facade itself.
The landscape strategy seeks to create a mature ecosystem with high levels of local biodiversity. The planting process, organized in different strata, generates an oasis effect. The three levels of vegetation (high, medium and low) create a microclimate that ensures the survival of the slowest and most vulnerable species. At the same time, they attract a great variety of fauna to the public housing in Guadaira complex.
